Program Studi Magister Manajemen Fakultas Bisnis dan Ekonomika Universitas Surabaya merupakan salah satu Program Studi “Strata Dua” (S2) bidang manajemen (identik business administration) yang diselenggarakan oleh Ubaya. Ijin penyelenggaraan Program Studi Magister Manajemen dan Magister Ilmu Hukum diperoleh pada 16 Oktober 1992 dengan S.K. Mendikbud No.435/DIKTI/Kep/1992. Pemberian ijin tersebut merupakan rangkaian akreditasi pertama kali oleh DEPDIKBUD bagi Perguruan Tinggi Swasta (PTS) yang ada di Indonesia.
Ubaya was granted the approval along with 3 other private universities in Jakarta namely Universitas Trisakti Jakarta, Universitas Tarumanagara Jakarta, and Universitas Atma Jaya Jakarta. While the establishment of Ubaya as a university was formally authorized by the Djoko Supadmo, SH Notarial Deed no.25 dated 6 March 1968 with 3 pioneering faculties namely Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Economics where 11 March 1968 is determined as the birthday of Ubaya.

The meaning of Vitae Probitas Veritatis is:
- Vitae, taken from the Latin “Vita” that means Life;
- Probitas, taken from Latin “Probitas” that means Honesty;
- Veritatis, taken from Latin “Veritas” that means Truth.
- Thus, the motto signifies that MM - UBAYA presents knowledge for life provision, based on the values of Truth and Honesty.
Master of Management study program at the University of Surabaya Faculty of Business and Economics (Ubaya FBE MM) is one of postgraduate programs (S2) in the management area (identical with business administration) held by Ubaya. The Ubaya Master of Management and Master of Law study programs received the official approval for operational on 16 October 1992 through the Minister of Education and Culture Decree No.435/DIKTI/Kep/1992. The official approval was the first accreditation series granted by the Department of Education and Culture to Private Universities (PTS) in Indonesia.

Ethics, professionalism, and leadership are the keywords of MM study program and will be based on inspiring and innovative character. Business and industry, in addition to requiring professionalism, also requiring ethic. Besides, the MM graduates should possess leadership skills with inspiring and innovative character.
Ubaya FBE MM transforms lives and serves the needs of business and industry upon highly competent graduates who are ethical, professional, and possess good leadership ability through knowledge, wisdom and integrity-based innovative learning.
The mission statement differentiates the Ubaya FBE MM program with the similar program from other universities. Implementation of the differentiation as stated in the mission statement is reflected in the study program’s curriculum and learning process.
In general, description of the meaning of differentiation as stated on the Ubaya FBE MM mission statement is the creation of excellence through:
- 1.Character and leadership empowerment with ethical personal integrity that is in line with professional competence;
- An increase in sensitivity towards the changes, so that graduates have a relatively high sensitivity toward changessensitive-responsive);
- An increase in strategic thinking ability and responsiveness towards changesvisionary, proactive-anticipative);
- An increase in self-control, calmness, patience, and assertiveself-control, assertive);
- An increase in the ability to work in teams and across culturesglobal-local-multicultural);
- An increase in the scientific communication ability, particularly writing skills in the context of professional competence (writing skill).
Main activities of the learning process are more prioritized on the activities in making students be more independent (student-centered learning) in order to prepare the students in carrying out life-long learning, while lecturers basically provide guidance, direction, and act as a facilitator and motivator. The learning process also reflects the program uniqueness in order to become a means of holistic learning (character as well as mastery education) for learners. Adinurani is one of the activities regularly carried out to instill the educational values of Ubaya FBE MM, in addition to introducing the Vision and Mission as well as the achievement of learners’ competencies. As part of instilling the Ubaya FBE MM graduate uniqueness, then Adinurani is an obligatory requirement of Ubaya FBE MM students to graduate.
The program gives an academic degree in accordance with the applicable regulation titled: Master of Management (abbreviated to “MM”), which should be placed after the name of graduate and before the professional degree.
Having “Networking Among Smart Leader” as a tagline, then competencies as a business leader must be built for Ubaya FBE MM graduates and it is customized with the level 8 of Indonesian National Qualification Framework (KKNI) as an Expert in Attitudes and Values; Job Skills; Managerial Capability and Control Knowledge.
Competencies of Ubaya FBE MM graduates are as follows:
- Competence to sustainably develop the knowledge related to management practices (continuance improvement)
- Competence to solve business and management problems by applying the management knowledge through the inter or multidisciplinary approach (problem solver)
- Competence to initiate, develop, and utilize networking in business and management (networking competence)
- Competence to behave in an ethical manner and possess leadership characters as a responsible global citizen (Global Citizenship)
- Competence to build, develop and maintain the business organizations to always proactive-adaptive towards rapid changes in the business environment;
- Competence to think innovatively (innovative thinking) and posses inspirational character when behaving in management and business practices.
The Master of Management (MM) – UBAYA study program offers the following 5 (five) concentrations
- Creative Marketing
The Creative Marketing concentration is targeted to students who wish for exploring marketing thoroughly, related to up-to-date practices and phenomena. In addition, this concentration also widens students‘ horizons related to the development of marketing practices in business as well as effective communication of marketing strategies. Students will discuss the most contemporary marketing cases and their solutions.
- Investment Management
The Investment Management concentration focuses on investment management through capital market mechanisms and other financial transactions. Students will be given financial cases in Indonesia and the world and discuss with financial experts and practitioners. Additionally, students are also equipped with the psychology of investing so that students do understand not only the fundamental approach to investing but also behavioral investing.
- Human Capital Developement
The Human Capital Development concentration focuses on the management of HR based on the latest patterns, with added specialization in the process of forming quality HR through training and career management. In addition, HR management is closely related to improving HR performance; thus, a better HR assessment system needs to be developed. Students will be equipped with the latest theories, concepts, and practices in HRM, as well as the latest HR cases.
- Logistics & Operation Management
The Logistics and Operations Management concentration is designed to teach knowledge and at the same time, form expertise in logistics and operations management, both within manufacturing and service businesses. Students will get the logistics and operations management material needed to make short-term, long-term, and tactical business decisions.
- Strategic Management
The Strategic Management concentration is designed to teach knowledge and at the same time, form strategic expertise to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the company. Students will get strategic management materials in an increasingly turbulent business environment. For this reason, students are equipped with the knowledge to integrate strategic management with an entrepreneurial spirit; business restructuring; and the ability to develop strategies in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.

The total study load of the MM - UBAYA Study Program is 42 Credit Units. The cumulative study load and normal study period of the study program are 4 (four) semesters and a maximum of 8 (eight) semesters.
The MM - UBAYA Study Program accepts students with educational backgrounds who hold a Bachelor's or Diploma 4 obtained from:
- Indonesian State Universities / Private Universities;
- Foreign Universities with a bachelor diploma that has been equalized by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia.
Pendaftaran mahasiswa MM UBAYA dilaksanakan 2 kali setahun (Tiap semester), dengan syarat:
- Melakukan Pendaftaran secara online di https://daftar.ubaya.ac.id/pasca/
- Melakukan transfer pembayaran biaya pendaftaran ke rekening UBAYA sebesar Rp. 600.000,- untuk Tes Tes Potensi Akademik (TPA) dan Tes Substansi Akademik (TSA).
- Mengikuti test penerimaan berupa TPA dan TSA sesuai dengan jadwal yang ditentukan.
- Melakukan pendaftaran ulang setelah dinyatakan diterima.
Students are accepted if they have passed the TPA test. Students who are Bachelor of Management graduates may not participate in matriculation courses if they have passed the TSA. All students who graduated from Non-Management Bachelor programs are required to take matriculation courses.
Matriculation courses are aimed to provide basic knowledge and preparation that will help students keep up with the teaching and learning process in the MM-UBAYA study program.
The matriculation courses include 4 (four) subjects, namely:
- Business Management;
- Financial Accounting;
- Macro – Microeconomics;
- Statistics for Business.
Students need to pay matriculation fee on top of the MM-UBAYA regular tuition fee. Matriculation courses are held for 8 (eight) meetings and students get a textbook and dinner.
TOEFL is a graduation requirement, where the TOEFL score can be submitted at registration until before graduating from the MM-UBAYA program
