VISITING PROFESSOR: OUTGOING

Again one of Ubaya’s lecturers became a visiting professor at an overseas campus at Toyo Gauken University, Tokyo, on 08 October 2021 at 10 WIB (12 Tokyo time). This time it was Dr. Werner R. Murhadi’s turn to give a public lecture on Indonesia’s economic conditions during the covid pandemic. This public lecture is a collaboration between Ubaya International Relations, the Master of Management Study Programme, and Toyo Gauken University, Tokyo, Japan. As is known, along with the achievement of international accreditation, then MM Ubaya always gives public lectures either by an incoming professor from abroad or an outgoing professor who comes from Ubaya. This faculty member exchange aims for each party to learn from each other and take good practices on each campus. This time, this public lecture collaboration was held for Toyo Gauken University students who wanted to know the condition of the Indonesian economy during and after the delta variant wave covid. Dr. Werner stated that there was a covid peak during July-August due to the long Lebaran holiday at the end of May 2021. During the rise of the covid, the government implemented a Community Activity Restriction, different from the Lockdown carried out by other countries. In PPKM, economic activities are divided into three sectors: critical sectors that can operate at 100% capacity, essential sectors that can operate at 50% capacity, and non-essential sectors that must work from home. The result of the application of PPKM is that positive cases of covid can be reduced while maintaining economic activity. This PPKM practice received praise from participants from Toyo Gauken University for being able to balance health interests and economic interests. In the future, MM Ubaya will encourage more lecturers to give public lectures to various international students abroad so that the world community knows what is happening in Indonesia.
